Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I am very happy that this month houses both Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This means  that there are a lot of charities and events happening around to promote a good cause and a lot of color that identifies with each occasion.
Some of the things I noticed this week are;
NFL  players and their coaches were wearing pink apparel to raise breast cancer awareness. They had on pink gloves, sweatbands, and shoes that they looked so cool in. Isn't it a great thing that pink is not just for lady's anymore?
Anyway, another thing that caught my eye that is happening around school is that,  Zeta Tau Alpha is doing a Think Pink Week where they have an entire week of activities to fund raise and support breast cancer awareness. please check it out and support them by wearing pink on Friday.
Lastly, The Springfield-Green County Library has  some more resources, that can be found on their health and wellness link pertaining to information about breast cancer. They have listed some new books to read,as well as a calendar of events  where the community can participate in raising Breast Cancer Awareness.

Hope grows when people care.

  1. I love that everyone is so supportive about raising awareness for breast cancer this month. My favorite thing though was on Facebook for today women are putting their status of where they like to put their purses when they get home, but they aren't saying that they are purses. They are dirty innuendos, but I personally find them hilarious.

  4. Ohhhhhhh. So that's what the Facebook statuses were about... I'm glad so many people are taking an active interest in an important problem like this.

  5. I think the rise in awareness is very uplifting. At our salon, one of the stylists is even offering a discount for the entire month on hair extensions which includes a free pink one (anyone interested?) with the purchase. I also love that the male professional athletic teams always get involved. It's wonderful!

  6. The idea behind the statuses seems a bit backwards to me. So, the best way to raise awareness about breast cancer is to make a vague, dirty status that has nothing at all to do with breast cancer...and then not fill people in on what you mean when they ask.

  7. Another thing the RAs in Smith, including myself, are doing is a coin war. We are working with the Zetas to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Coin wars are basically residents giving coins to their RAs to raise money for their hall. Halls can sabotage the other halls by putting paper money (ones, fives, twenties, etc.) in the opposings hall bucket. Its a fun competition for a good cause.
